To say it’s been a difficult week for Nottingham Forest, is probably something of an understatement.
Going into their final two games of the season, Sabri Lamouchi’s side needed just a single point to secure their place in the Championship play-off place this year, and with it, give themselves a shot at promotion to the Premier League.
However, a last-minute defeat at relegation-threatened Barnsley on Sunday and a 4-1 thrashing at home to Stoke on Wednesday meant that Forest somehow managed to throw away that play-off place, ensuring they face another year in the Championship as a result.
Now, with the dust slowly starting to settle on that almost inexplicable capitulation, Forest have taken to Twitter to pay tribute to the support they have received from their fans this season, in the grounds and from home this season.
THANK YOU ❤️
You've backed us at The City Ground, on the road and from your own homes and we are truly humbled by your support all season 👏 #NFFC pic.twitter.com/0gloaSc3CX

Responding to that post, there was something of a mixed reaction from those supporters, and here, we’ve taken a look at what some of them had to say.
U may have failed us on the last couple of games but u have had such a good season a joy to watch and at the end of the day we r in the most entertaining league in the world imo

Okay, so we had a fallout midweek and I said some stuff that I shouldn’t have and you did some things you shouldn’t have, but I still love you. I always will love you. #NFFC

and now your all sat on the beach with all the money you’ve made for putting no passion into the team

That’s completely unfair to some of them! Lolley was heartbroken and sat on the pitch for half an hour after the match ended crying. Some of them have ran their hearts out all season. We know who the ones who aren’t arsed but you can’t paint them all with the same brush.

Next season we will smash it 💪

We will be back inside the city ground as soon as we are allowed to be. It’s always a rollercoaster with Forest – been a fan since 1967, not stopping now. We go again in Sept. You Reds. #nffc

We clearly overachieved. Whilst that’s great we’ve just not got the depth we need to be serious challengers. I’ve no doubt Sabri will be sacked cos that’s what we do….it needs to change. That last game cannot define us as a club. It’s up to you now to show us that.

Please stop letting us down. We deserve better. #nffc

I wasn’t expecting promotion but the playoffs were a cert. I’ve slept on it & I still think Wednesday was embarrassing! Was with a load of baggies…. they hadn’t won in 4 games & still got what was required. We only needed to keep our end of the GD down at worst …. ridiculous!
