Report: Key Forest figure linked with important role at Premier League club

|

Nottingham Forest manager Sabri Lamouchi is a candidate for the vacant managerial role at Watford, a report from The Evening Standard has claimed.

The Hornets are in the market for a new manager after sacking Nigel Pearson – their third manager of the campaign – earlier this week, and it seems Lamouchi is among a number of candidates in contention for the role.

According to the latest reports, Lamouchi, Croatia manager Zlatko Dalic and Marcelino are said to be under consideration to take over at Vicarage Road, although former Leicester and Southampton boss Claude Puel is said to be the frontrunner for the position.

It is thought that Watford will step up their attempts to replace Pearson after the final game of the Premier League season on Sunday, when they will know for certain whether or not they will avoid relegation to the Championship.

Would Lamouchi be a good appointment for Watford?

Yes

Yes

No

Lamouchi only recently signed a new contract with Forest, although his future at The City Ground has come in for plenty of scrutiny following the club’s collapse that somehow saw them throw away a Championship play-off place from a seemingly unassailable position in the final few weeks of the campaign.

As a result, it may seem slightly surprising if Watford are to offer the role at Vicarage Road to Lamouchi, particularly if they manage to stay in the Premier League for next season

However, the Frenchman’s experience in the Championship could be useful for them, if they were to drop into the second-tier, which does look to be a strong possibility.
