Nottingham Forest have announced that defender Matty Cash has been voted the club’s Player of the Year for the 2019/20 season.

Cash enjoyed another outstanding campaign at The City Ground, scoring three goals and providing five assists from right-back in 45 appearances in all competitions as Sabri Lamouchi’s side narrowly missed out on the Championship play-off places in dramatic circumstances on the final day of the campaign.

Those performances from the 23-year-old have led to plenty of speculation about his future already this summer, with a number of Premier League clubs linked with moves for the defender.

Now Cash’s contributions have been recognised by plenty of Forest supporters, with a remarkable 60% of supporters who voted in the club’s player of the season ballot nominating the right-back for the award, highlighting his ability and popularity amongst the club’s fanbase.

Behind Cash, top scorer Lewis Grabban finished second with 13%, while goalkeeper Brice Samba claimed third with 9% of the vote in his debut season at the club.

Taking to Twitter to react to that recognition for Cash, plenty of Forest fans were keen to pay tribute to the defender, with many once again expressing their desire to see the defender at The City Ground in the coming campaign as well.
