According to Paul Taylor of Nottinghamshire Live, Alfa Semedo is in England to complete a deal with Nottingham Forest. The Benfica midfielder could be confirmed on Monday with teammate Yuri Ribeiro. Semedo is another young player who has struggled for playing time at the Estadio Da Luz and will embark on a move away in a bid for more first-team football.

The 21-year-old re-joined Benfica from Moreirense in 2018 and has gone on to make 16 appearances in all competitions, racking up less than 700 minutes of football. Semedo spent the second half of last season on loan at Espanyol due to the lack of playing time and Forest look to be capitalising on the situation.

Despite Martin O’Neill being sacked as manager and Roy Keane resigning as assistant manager, Forest haven’t hung about in the transfer market. The East Midlands club quickly appointed Sabri Lamouchi and have wasted little time in strengthening the squad. A defensive-midfielder has been needed as Jack Colback may not be returning to the City Ground.

It’s worth noting that Forest could have completed their fifth signing later this week – Sammy Ameobi from Bolton, Tiago Silva from Feirense, Aro Muric from Manchester City, Ribeiro from Benfica and Semedo from Benfica.
