Report: Midfielder ‘very close’ to joining Nottm Forest, potential confirmation date revealed

|

According to Record, Alfa Semedo is ‘very close’ to joining Nottingham Forest, and TVI24 say his loan move could be confirmed on Monday. The 21-year-old will travel to Nottingham next week to complete a medical and finalise the deal. If all goes well, his season-long loan should be announced on the same day.

Semedo re-joined Benfica in 2018 and has gone on to make 16 appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating two goals. The defensive-midfielder struggled for games last season (99 minutes of Primeira Liga football) and was loaned out to Espanyol as a result. His stint in Spain didn’t go to plan either, however, with Semedo racking up a meager 42 minutes of Liga football.

The uncapped Guinea-Bissau player is surplus to requirements in Portugal, having been omitted from first-team training, and will seek a second loan move away in less than a year to get regular football at a competitive level. Semedo had four English clubs interested in his signature (Forest, Burnley, Middlesbrough, Wigan Athletic) this summer, but the Reds have won the race.

All reports suggest that movement will be made early next week.
