Claudio Yacob finds himself on the periphery at Nottingham Forest after falling down the pecking order under Martin O’Neill and Sabri Lamouchi, but he’s running out of time to broker a move away from the City Ground.

The 32-year-old’s last appearance for Forest came against Queens Park Rangers on April 27. He was an unused substitute in the Reds’ final match of the 2018/19 campaign and hasn’t made the matchday squad ever since.

Yacob was even left out of the 18 in Forest’s EFL Cup clash with Fleetwood Town, suggesting there’s no way he’ll get a shout under Lamouchi unless injuries depleted the midfield.

The Argentina international finds himself behind Samba Sow, Ben Watson, Alfa Semedo, Ryan Yates and John Bostock in the pecking order. Liam Bridcutt remains in the reserves too.

Yacob impressed alongside Jack Colback for a period last season, but he clearly didn’t do enough to convince O’Neill (six appearances and 180 minutes of football between January and May) that he deserved more opportunities.

He’s in the last year of his deal and has less than a week remaining to find himself a new club. Yacob doesn’t have a lot of interest, however, which could mean he’s forced to stay until January and be on the periphery. Time will tell.
