Middlesbrough are set to sign Cuco Martina on loan from Everton, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The Mirror had reported that Boro were pursuing Sam Byram but if they make a move for the Dutch right-back, they won’t be looking to sign the West Ham defender.

Our pursuit of the Hammers player has been going on for a while, and it seems as though we could have to wait a bit longer for a transfer to go through.
West Ham blog the Claret & Hugh believe a deal for Byram may not happen before 5 pm, and while the Premier League side remain “hopeful” of a permanent deal before the end of the day, it’s unlikely to happen.
A loan move for the 24-year-old is, therefore, looking more and more likely. With the EFL loan window closing on August 31st, we have the best part of three weeks still to get the deal done.
