It’s certainly been a frantic weekend for Nottingham Forest and their fans.

It all kicked off Friday when Martin O’Neill was dismissed as manager, then less than twenty minutes later appointing Sabri Lamouchi, just a day before their first pre-season game.

The Frenchman comes to the City Ground with a pretty impressive pedigree, having done some good work for the Ivory Coast national team, El Jaish in the Qatari Star League and Stade Rennais in France. And the Frenchman got to work with his new side straight away, watching from the stands during Forest’s 2-1 win over Alfreton Town on Saturday.

Before he started, though, the Frenchman gave two interviews, to French newspaper L’Équipe and to Sky Sports News as he arrived for the pre-season game with Alfreton Town. In the interviews he talked about how much he felt respected by the club, and how his immediate aim is to be in the Premier League next season.

That last sentence certainly got a lot of Forest fans excited. After Martin O’Neill set the stall out early in what he expected this upcoming season, it’s good to see that Lamouchi shares the same ambition, although given Nottingham Forest’s record with managers, I wouldn’t exactly hold my breath…
