‘Class’, ‘Fantastic’, ‘Brilliant’ – some fans laud Nottingham Forest midfielder’s fine form

Alfa Semedo has made a big impression with some Nottingham Forest fans only two games into the season. The 21-year-old joined on a season-long loan from Benfica to offset the loss of Jack Colback, while keeping Claudio Yacob and Adlene Guedioura on the periphery, and has fared well in his early appearances.

Against West Bromwich Albion on August 3, Semedo played for 88 minutes, made 53 touches, won three aerial duels, completed 76.7% of his 30 passes, had three shots, boasted a 100% cross accuracy record, completed four successful dribbles, made five tackles, one interception and one clearance.

Against Leeds United on August 10, the defensive-midfielder played a full 90 minutes, made 52 touches, completed 52% of his 25 passes, won three aerial duels, whipped in one cross, made one tackle, two interceptions, four clearances, made two successful dribbles, drew two fouls and blocked a shot.

From his two Championship outings, Semedo has averaged more than 27 passes-per-game, won 66% of his aerial duels, completed 75% of his dribbles and averages a tackle or interception every 20 minutes. He’s hit the ground running for Forest and could be an important player for Sabri Lamouchi over the course of the season.
