Official: Nottingham Forest confirm another summer signing, player joins on loan

|

Nottingham Forest confirmed the signing of Aro Muric on Tuesday morning. The young goalkeeper has joined on a season-long loan from Manchester City and is the Reds’ fifth capture of the summer – Sammy Ameobi, Tiago Silva, Alfa Semedo, Yuri Ribeiro.

Muric will now compete with Costel Pantilimon, Luke Steele and Jordan Smith for a starting place next season. The Kosovo international was second-choice at Man City in 2018/19 after an injury to Claudio Bravo and is a highly-rated shot-stopper.

Pep Guardiola is allowing Muric a loan move away from the Etihad Stadium as Bravo has returned to fitness and he wants his young ‘keeper to get regular playing time. The 20-year-old made five EFL Cup appearances as City clinched more silverware and was on the bench for every Champions League and Premier League game too.

Now he’s tasked with the challenge of getting regular football at the City Ground which won’t be easy. Pantilimon was first-choice under Aitor Karanka and Martin O’Neill last season while Luke Steele played second fiddle and made a couple of appearances during the run-in.

Sabri Lamouchi can use pre-season to test out all four goalkeepers on the books before he’ll need to make a final decision when the 2019/20 campaign begins.
