Opinion: Nottingham Forest won’t sign out-of-favour midfielder on a permanent deal

|

John Bostock joined Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan from Toulouse, but he’s been short of playing time under Sabri Lamouchi and may not be joining the Reds permanently next summer as a result. The 27-year-old has made only four appearances in all competitions, racking up 262 minutes of football.

Bostock made his debut in Forest’s 1-0 EFL Cup win over Fleetwood Town (August 13), made his league debut in the Reds’ 1-1 draw with Charlton Athletic (August 21), played 90 minutes in their 3-0 EFL Cup win over Derby County (August 27) and had 56 minutes in their 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic (October 20).

Should Nottingham Forest try to sign John Bostock permanently next summer?

Yes

No

No

The uncapped Trinidad and Tobago midfielder find himself behind Tiago Silva, Samba Sow, Ryan Yates, Ben Watson, Alfa Semedo and Joao Carvalho in the pecking order. Bostock has not made the matchday squad in the league for nearly a month, so it appears he’s not made the best impression on Lamouchi.

Bostock’s loan deal at the City Ground expires at the end of July and it’s hard to see Forest lodging a bid to sign him permanently at this moment in time.
