Well what an awfully nice thing to say.

You’ve more than likely heard of ‘the goalkeepers union’, well now it looks as if there’s a bit of a right-backs union developing at the City Ground.

Speaking to Nottinghamshire Live, Tendayi Darikwa has piled on the praise for the right-back and isn’t even begrudging him the fact that he might even keep him out of a job when he comes back from his own injury.

“I’ve always seen the potential of him playing there because I think he’s got all the attributes to do that. Cashy has been great. I hope he continues to play the way he is, because with his performances he’s showing that he’s more than capable of playing at right-back.”

Just to add to Darikwa’s point, Cash has settled in so well into his position that he is currently the best performing right-back in the division according to WhoScored.com. This all comes in direct contrast to what Kenny Burns said in the wake of the Luton Town victory in that he felt that Lamouchi would have to readdress the right-back position at some point in the future.

Given the amount of wingers that are currently at the club, with the likes of Albert Adomah, Joe Lolley, Sammy Ameobi plus Joao Carvalho who has played there on a couple of occasions this year, and the supposed talk of them bringing in Jack Clarke from Leeds United (Sporting Life via Nottinghamshire Live), I think it’s fair to say that his days as a winger, at least under Sabri Lamouchi, are more or less finished, and he needs to concentrate on being a right-back for the time being.

Or at the very least until Carl Jenkinson comes back from his latest problems.

Should Sabri Lamouchi stick with Matty Cash when Carl Jenkinson returns?

So with the January window around the corner, do you think that we need to invest in another right-back and maybe think about putting Cash back to his normal position as a winger? Or do you think that Cash has proven that he should be the club’s first choice right-back going forward?
