Opinion: Sabri Lamouchi should offload out-of-form Nottingham Forest man in January

|

Arijanet Muric has struggled for form and playing time at Nottingham Forest and could be considering his future. The 21-year-old joined on loan from Manchester City and was expected to be first-choice under Sabri Lamouchi, but Muric’s error-prone performances led to him being dropped.

Brice Samba has shone in Muric’s absence and is now Lamouchi’s first-choice between the sticks. The 25-year-old has been Forest’s No.1 since late-August and has gone on to make 14 appearances in all competitions. Samba has kept a clean sheet in 50% of his games and concedes only 0.64 goals-per-game on average.

Should Nottingham Forest cut Arijanet Muric's loan short in January?

Yes

No

Muric has five appearances to his name, the last of which resulted in a 5-0 EFL Cup defeat to Arsenal (September 24). The Kosovo international has spent the majority of the season as an unused substitute and may need to return to City in January as he doesn’t have much hope of getting regular football at Forest.

If his stint in the East Midlands is cut short, Muric will have January to find another club to join on loan. Lamouchi has Costel Pantilimon and Jordan Smith to call upon if Muric leaves, so there’s little reason for the Reds to worry about losing their reserve stopper.
