Opinion: Lamouchi could drop Nottm Forest defender against Stoke, 22-year-old may start

|

Jack Robinson started at left-back for Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup against Arsenal while Yuri Ribiero operated on the wing, but Sabri Lamouchi might consider a change ahead of Friday’s meeting with Stoke City.

Robinson has played second-fiddle to Ribiero in recent weeks but was back in the side on Tuesday as Lamouchi rung the changes to his squad. The 26-year-old is likely to make way for Ribiero against Stoke, however, as his form has been inferior.

Supporters have been full of praise for the Portuguese u21 international and Lamouchi appears to be a fan too. He dropped Robinson for Ribiero against Swansea City (September 14) and has stuck with him ever since.

The 22-ear-old has made five appearances in all competitions since his summer move from Benfica and looks like a brilliant acquisition.

As per WhoScored, Ribiero creates a chance every 36 minutes, makes a tackle or interception every 36 minutes, hits the target with 80% of his crosses, makes a clearance every 26 minutes and wins an aerial duel every 30 minutes on average.

He was outstanding on Tuesday and should be rewarded with a starting place at left-back.

Forest (6th) are big favourites to beat Stoke (23rd) this week. The Reds have won three and drawn one of their last four and face a Potters side coming off the back of four defeats from five.
