I suppose if you can’t get an actual hat-trick, this one will have to do.
Not only did we pick up the three points, and not only did he score his first goal for the club, Sammy Ameobi was awarded the Man Of The Match last night for his efforts.
Although I must say, I think it was a bit generous giving Sammy the award. Not that he did anything wrong, but the team performance as a whole under such heavy pressure from the hosts, with the exception of the first and last ten minutes, was pretty good. So to single him out above the rest of the team was a bit harsh on the rest of them.
Brought in on a free transfer in the summer from Bolton Wanderers, you’d be inclined to say money well spent, except there wasn’t really any money involved. If he keeps up these kinds of performances, then it might just go down as one of the better deals the club pulled off this summer.
And these Forest fans were certainly not too shy to show their appreciation for his contribution on the night.
