Injury boost for Nottingham Forest as 22-year-old returns ahead of Blackburn clash

|

Rafa Mir has given a positive injury update ahead of Tuesday’s meeting with Blackburn Rovers, revealing on Instagram that he’s returned to training.

The 22-year-old has been out of action for a month with a leg injury which caused him to miss Nottingham Forest’s 1-0 win over Swansea (September 14), 1-0 win over Barnsley (September 21) and 3-2 win over Stoke City (September 27).

His injury update came on Saturday, so Mir should be fit to feature against Blackburn. It’s unlikely the Spaniard will start, but he’ll provde much-needed cover for Lewis Grabban and Sammy Ameobi. Sabri Lamouchi will be hoping his striker can get off the mark soon, as Mir has fired blanks in his six appearances.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee has made four appearances in the Championship and made one assist. He’s featured twice in the EFL Cup and made one assist too. Mir’s return should help take the scoring burden off Grabban who has contributed five goals in eight games.

Forest are enjoying a bright start to the new season too, sitting third in the table with 18 points from nine games. Lamouchi’s men are just one point off leaders West Bromwich Albion and have won four & draw one of their last five. They’ve be favourites to beat Blackburn, but time will tell if Mir can get off the mark.
