To date, it feels that the club are intent on augmenting every single section of the squad, and according to recent reports, we’re poised to enhance the quality of our defence. We’ve been linked with a move for AFC Bournemouth’s Tyrone Mings.
As per Daily Mirror’s live blog (July 7th), we’re allegedly interested in the services of the former Ipswich Town defender, and it’s rumoured that the Cherries are prepared to sell the 25-year-old.
When he signed for Bournemouth in 2015, it was expected that the talented defender would realise his potential with the Cherries and establish himself as an indispensable figure in their team.
To his dismay, his time in the South Coast has been plagued with several injury complications, and Mings has been reduced to eight league starts over three seasons with the Premier League outfit.
Here’s how the Forest fans have reacted to the rumours on Twitter.
Tyrone Mings on paper would be a huge signing, the injury situation though is a concern and a gamble. He'd be a great player at Championship level though, as proved at Ipswich. Anyway, we only seem to make signings on a Friday, so plenty of time haha! 😝😝😝👍👍👍 #nffc

take out Mancianne, and Lam… we have another player who can cover LB and CB… plus the long term cover of Fox. RB is more important as we only have 1 at the min, but a great addition

Verdict:
Despite his injury woes, Mings is exceedingly talented. One of his apparent strengths is his tactical adaptability; he can operate at centre-back or as a left-back, which could be extremely useful for us, given the gruelling nature of the Championship schedule.
Additionally, he flaunts tremendous attacking qualities such as his superb dribbling and refined crossing skills. Personally, I think he would be an astute signing for us.
