Can you think of a better welcome back present?

Well perhaps if he’d buried one from 30 yards rather than the, what shall we call it, ‘accidental ricochet’ that we got last night. At the end of the day, it’s a goal, against Derby County to send them out of the League Cup, and perhaps the funny nature of it will actually make it slightly more iconic when we talk about it years down the line. Where was I going with this? Oh yeah, Joao Carvalho’s back in business.

The Portuguese playmaker has been missing since the early part of pre-season having sustained an injury during Forest’s win over Alfreton Town back in June. Last night though he was back with a, well not so much ‘a bang’ and probably not ‘with a vengeance’ either, but he was back and that’s all that matters.

Having played such a key part in the Forest team last year, providing four goals and eight assists last season, fans were delighted to see him back in action and they couldn’t contain themselves when they saw the goal fly in.
