Nottingham Forest returned to winning ways on Saturday, beating Luton Town 2-1 at Kenilworth Road, and Joe Lolley returned to form. The 27-year-old has struggled for consistency this season, but he looked back to his best over the weekend and was lauded by some supporters on social media.
Lolley grabbed an assist against the Hatters, whipped in a cross for Sammy Ameobi to finish from close range, and was a constant threat before being brought off in the 82nd minute. Sabri Lamouchi has backed the Englishman in 2019/20 and was rewarded for his trust.
#nffc just a reflection on yesterday, played extremely well looks like Lamouchis been grilling some of them in training, Ribeiro for me was outstanding, has to start over Robbo, Lolley looked like the player was had last season and apart from that sitter Grabban looked good.

Against Luton, Lolley made 36 touches, completed 80% of his 15 passes, whipped in seven crosses, created two chances, had three shots, made one successful dribble, drew one foul and made three tackles. Albert Adomah, Brennan Johnson and Joao Carvalho are breathing down Lolley’s neck, but Lamouchi has been vindicated trusting his wide-man.
Should Joe Lolley start against Derby on Saturday?
Yes
No
The 27-year-old has made 15 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring and creating five goals. Lolley’s assist against Luton was his first since August, but there are signs he’s starting to find some form.
