I think that officially goes down as ‘a thrashing’.
Forest were dumped out of the Carabao Cup last night by Arsenal, with the Reds suffering a 5-0 defeat. Although Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi doesn’t think that the scoreline was a fair result.
Speaking after the match, Lamouchi said:
“We deserved to lose but five is too much. In the first half, at one down we were always in the game. We are out of the competition but against a big club, top players and I am disappointed for the players because it is cruel, and disappointed for the fans because there were a lot of them here tonight. The last pass, the last choice was not right but we cannot forget that we played against Arsenal, a top team with top players.”
Forest fans had mixed reactions to the boss’ comments. There were some who were quite willing to accept the defeat if it meant that things picked up in the league.
The gamble you take when you rest so many first team regulars. Shame we capitulated at the end, but we go again full strength at Stoke on Friday night. Priorities. #NFFC

Honestly could care less as long as the main squad is fit for Stoke…away at Arsenal was always gonna be a big ask for the lads, especially with Uncle Albert at the top. The league is all that matters right now. Come on you Reds!

We probably needed bringing back down to earth a bit but still showed some good passing and decent interceptions.
Learn from it and move forwards stronger from the experience.

Was always going to be tough and the gulf in class showed. Need to move on and not get too depressed. My main worry is our lack of forward options and it could come and haunt us before we even go to January. Hope I am wrong.

Whilst there were some who were quite angry with the team selection and think that they could have put up a better fight if they’d have put out a stronger team.
The one thing it did show is how much we desperately need backup for Grabban.

If you’re going to put Muric in goal you’ll concede 2 more than should

Really didn’t get that performance tonight. Team selection made no sense and the fact we left the left side of the pitch open the whole game baffled me. Of course it’s Arsenal and of course it doesn’t matter as we want promotion but that was quite odd! Adomah on his own!
