It looks almost certain that Ben Brereton will join Blackburn Rovers on loan ahead of a permanent move in January.
Attention has swiftly turned to who could replace the 19-year-old in the squad, with the Nottingham Post reporting we have our eye on four different strikers.
Nelson Oliveira, Jermain Defoe, Rudy Gestede and Tammy Abraham are said to be on the club’s radar. However, one fan doesn’t think the 20-year-old Chelsea forward, in particular, would be a better option than Brereton:
Unpopular opinion but when we sell Brereton, I do not want Abraham. What’s the point of selling our youth players to develop someone elses #NFFC

However, many supporters disagreed:
coz hes 3 times better

He is further on had two loan spells and scored lots of goals in the championship loan.

The point is he is ten time the player B.B. will ever be

We need to realise where we are in the food chain.
Brereton 8 in 58
Abraham 21 in 43
Championship stats.
Playing 5/6 of our youngsters got us 21st & 17th.
21,000 season ticket holders won’t tolerate that. Immediate success is demanded #nffc

Maybe because Tammy Abraham is a much better player right now and that’s what we need if we wanna get promoted

He scored 23 goals in 41 games. I really don’t want Brereton to go but if he does then we have to replace him with another top class talent that can score goals in the championship now.

He scored 23 goals in 41 games in the championship for Bristol City. I think that would be a massive reason for wanting him. Not sure we’ll get him though.

Because Abraham is a top class talent with a fantastic record in the Championship. Ours is an over rated kid with a dreadful record in the Championship….

Abraham’s record in the Championship is superb, and out of the four options on the table, he would definitely be the one I’d pick. 23 goals in 41 appearances in the second tier is very impressive.
There has been talk that the England international is keen on only joining a top division side, but with transfer windows across Europe closing, it is very likely that he’ll have to consider a move down a league to get game time.
