The long awaited statue commemorating legendary manager Brian Clough moved a step closer to completion, as members of the statue fund yesterday handed over a cheque for £70,290 to the Council.

Details have also been announced on how you can view the shortlisted artists work. Copies of their work can be viewed at the Council House from January 7-12. A decision is expected to be made late January as to which artist will be chosen. Members of the public can leave their views in a book at the Council House foyer, or leave them at the website for the statue fund www.brianclough.com.

The shortlisted artists are Les Johnson (Hampshire), Keith Maddison (Northumberland) and John McKenna (Ayrshire). The completed statue will be a life size model made of Bronze. The location for the statue will be on the corner of King Street and Queen Street, facing the Market Square. Just about perfect. All that remains now, is to decide which one to go for.
