Lennon Wants His Place Back

Midfielder Neil Lennon has admitted his surprise at being left out of the starting line up for last weeks game against Northampton Town at the City Ground. But, the former Celtic and Northern Ireland hard man, has vowed to win his place back.

Lennon may well be 36 years of age, but this time last year he was playing Champions League football with Celtic. On that basis you can’t blame him for being surprised at not getting his place in a Third Division side. That said though, he did walk out on the club, albeit with good reason earlier in the season. He left for nearly two weeks to resolve family problems and has since found it hard to get back in.

He played in the much maligned FA Cup defeat at the hands of Luton, but then found himself on the bench for the following game. Lennon told the Nottingham Evening Post. “I thought I played well enough against Luton in the FA Cup defeat but the manager told me he wanted to go with the three youngsters. We`ve got a lot of games coming up and I want to be playing. I came here to play and I want to contribute. I respect the manager`s decision even if I don`t agree with it.”
