Joe Worrall was lauded by supporters after Nottingham Forest’s 1-0 win over Derby County. The 22-year-old has impressed at centre-back this season and delivered another standout performance on Saturday afternoon. Worrall was dominant in the air, didn’t give away any fouls, blocked a number of shots and helped steer Forest to their first clean sheet in over a month.

There were question marks about how the centre-back would fare without the experienced Michael Dawson alongside him, but Worrall has put any fears to rest. He’s been partnered with Chema Rodriguez and Tobias Figureido in Dawson’s absence, but his form hasn’t wavered in recent weeks. Fans said on social media that Worrall and Figueiredo were assured at the back.

Against Derby, the England u21 international played a full 90 minutes, made 45 touches, won three aerial duels, completed 78.1% of his 32 passes, made one tackle, blocked two shots, made seven clearances and drew one foul. Worrall has made 17 appearances in all competitions, boasts a 59% win ratio and has helped Forest keep seven clean sheets.

After the international break, Sabri Lamouchi’s men face Bristol City and could go second in the Championship if results go their way.
