Sammy Ameobi was another Nottingham Forest player hailed by supporters on social media after Saturday’s 1-0 win over Derby County. The 27-year-old started slowly against the Rams, but he eventually turned in a fantastic performance before his substitution.
Ameobi looks a bargain acquisition after signing on a free transfer from Bolton Wanderers over the summer. The former England u21 international has been short of goals at Forest, but he’s wowing fans with his quick-feet and creativity. Spectators were happy with what they saw over the weekend.

Tiago Silva was a magician today. Ran the show. Worrall & Figs solid as a rock. Cash & Ribeiro exceptional in attack and at the back. Lolley & Ameobi looked threatening all game. Yates & Watson bossed the midfield & that man Grabban scores goals. As for Brice nothing but ❤ #nffc

Against Derby, Ameobi played for 71 minutes, made 51 touches, won two aerial duels, created two chances, had eight shots, completed 81% of his 21 passes, made one interception, whipped in three crosses, made three tackles, drew one foul and made two successful dribbles.
This season, the 27-year-old has made 17 appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating three goals. Ameobi has been a regular under Lamouchi and is repaying his manager’s faith with good performances, but the Reds’ boss will be hoping more goals will come.
Has Sammy Ameobi been a good signing by Nottingham Forest?
Yes
No
Forest have been heavily reliant on Lewis Grabban and need another player to shoulder the scoring burden.
