Nottingham Forest enjoyed a 1-0 win over fierce rivals Derby County and Matty Cash was one of many players praised by supporters for his performance at the City Ground. The 22-year-old was one of Forest’s best players in Saturday’s victory and found himself named in the EFL Team of the Week as a result.
Cash has been a revelation at right-back under Sabri Lamouchi this season. The wide-man was utilised in the role due to Tendayi Darikwa and Carl Jenkinson picking up injuries, and now he’s frequently being hailed by fans while making the Team of the Week on a regular basis. His performance against Derby showed why.

Special shout out to Matty Cash today. Putting in some superb performances at RB and making the position his own.
Had my doubts at the beginning of the season but happy to be proven wrong as the performances go by. Looking like one of the best RB's in the division #nffc

Brice Samba makes the entire team better, we’re a way more confident side with a quality keeper in. Matty Cash is exceptional. The work he must be doing in the week… 👏 and Tiago Silva is a little baller. The rest of the team ain’t bad either 👌 #nffc

There are few things more pleasing than the players MON crippled and Burns subsequently attacked at will showing their class on a regular basis. Grabban & Cash superb. Only one who hasn’t properly yet is Joao, but bear in mind he’s been injured, I’m sure his time will come #nffc

Against the Rams, Cash played for 90 minutes, made 61 touches, created one chance, had one shot, made three clearances, completed 77.8% of his 27 passes, made two interceptions, whipped in three crosses, made three tackles, blocked one shot and drew four fouls.
Should Sabri Lamouchi stick with Matty Cash when Carl Jenkinson returns?
Yes
No
The Englishman has made 17 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring and creating four goals. He’s missed only one game under Lamouchi and is likely to keep his place at right-back even when Darikwa & Jenkinson return.
