The Word On The Tweet

‘Should never play for Forest again’ – Some Forest fans are left furious by club tweet before friendly

|

You just can’t please some fans, can you?

With Lewis Grabban and Joe Lolley grabbing the lion’s share of the goals last year – 29 between them in all competitions – it took away a lot of the attention from the other forwards who helped out along the way.

Forwards like Daryl Murphy. At his age you can’t expect him to be tucking them away at the same rate he did when he was at Ipswich Town, when he finished the 2014/15 season as top scorer. He has, however, chipped in with a few goals here and there, last season managing to grab six goals and three assists in all competitions.

So when the club tweeted a video showing Daryl Murphy tucking the ball away in preparation for Tuesday’s friendly against Dundee, you’d hope that it would bring a sense of optimism amongst the fans, that he’s still got the ability to put the ball away. That’s why it was so surprising to see the Nottingham Forest fans react to the clip with such vitriol.

They took to Twitter to basically say that he isn’t good enough for the club. A lot also took the opportunity to take a shot at defender Michael Dawson for his role in the build-up. Calm down everyone, it’s only pre-season training after all.

The friendly against Dundee ended goalless on Tuesday night.
