Leaving so soon?

In a bit of a surprise on Friday morning, the club confirmed that Iranian striker Karim Ansarifard had sealed a move to Qatari side Al-Sailiya having only signed last November.

Having only started three times last season, he never really got the chance to show his worth. Towards the latter part of the season though, against Middlesbrough and QPR he finally started some games and managed to get a goal and an assist in them. Perhaps he’s just one of the victims of the new regime change under Sabri Lamouchi.

Maybe that’s why these Forest fans were a little bit upset over the news. He’s clearly shown an ability to find the net, even in his limited appearances. Could he have gotten a better goal return if he’d been given a consistent run in the first team?

Judging by their reactions, they didn’t seem too happy about the news. I suppose they were hoping that it was going to be Daryl Murphy that was announced as leaving, rather than Ansarifard. With the squad now looking somewhat thin in the forward department, some fans even used the opportunity to pressure the club into making some signings, with one former Derby man’s name in particular getting some mentions.
