Sabri Lamouchi has confirmed that Michael Dawson is fit and available ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Derby County, reports BBC Nottingham Sport.

The 35-year-old has been out of action with a calf injury since late-September, missing Nottingham Forest’s last five Championship outings, but he’s finally recovered and could challenge Tobias Figueiredo for a starting place alongside Joe Worrall.

Dawson has made nine appearances this season, the last of which came against Stoke City on September 27. The former England international was a rock at centre-back with Worrall – shutting out 33% of his opponents – but Forest have only kept one clean sheet in his absence (20%).

Lamouchi has used Figueiredo and Chema Rodriguez while Dawson has been out, but the Reds boss could start the central defender if he’s 100% come Saturday. Dawson’s boasted a 100% record from his last three league appearances, but Forest have managed only two without him.

Ahead of their Midlands derby, Forest are fifth in the table with 25 points from 14 games. They recently ended a two-game losing streak with a 2-1 win at Luton Town and go into Saturday’s meeting as favourites – Derby are winless in their last six away games.
