Explained: Who is the Nottingham Forest loanee without a goal in 11 league games?

Virgil Gomis isn’t having the best time at Macclesfield Town since joining the Silkmen on loan. The 20-year-old has scored two goals in 13 appearances in all competitions but has been firing blanks in League Two. Gomis is yet to ripple the back of the net in 11 fourth-tier games and is no longer commanding a starting place as a result.

The centre-forward has yet to feature in the Nottingham Forest first-team and has used loan moves to continue his development. Unfortunately, Gomis isn’t getting a lot out of his season-long stint at Moss Rose. He’s registered just two shots on target in League Two, created two chances, lost 92% of his aerial duels and averages less than six passes per game.

What should Virgil Gomis do in January?

Gomis poor form has led to him being short of minutes on the pitch too. He hasn’t started in the league for Macclesfield for a month and has since been reduced to second-half substitute appearances. The 20-year-old has scored in the EFL Cup and EFL Trophy for the Silkmen, but he has to start delivering in the league. His hopes of staying on for the season may depend on it.
