According to Mohamed Toubache-TER (h/t GFFN), Nottingham Forest are closing in on Brice Samba. The 25-year-old is due to travel to England to agree personal terms and complete a medical. Samba will be Forest’s eighth summer signing after Sammy Ameobi, Tiago Silva, Alfa Semedo (loan), Yuri Ribeiro, Arijanet Muric (loan), Albert Adomah and Rafa Mir (loan).

Samba will be Forest’s fifth goalkeeper in the first-team – Muric, Costel Pantilimon, Luke Steele, Jordan Smith – which will give Sabri Lamouchi a potential selection headache. It also raises uncertainty over the future of Pantilimon and Steele – two players who have been linked with moves away from the City Ground and were left out of the matchday squad on Saturday.

Nevertheless, Samba could be a good signing. He’s made 49 appearances in all competition for SM Caen, keeping 15 clean sheets. The 25-year-old has also played for the likes of Olympique Marseille and AS-Nancy Lorraine too. With 43 Ligue 1 appearances under his belt, Lamouchi is bringing in a player of decent experience.

Pantilimon & Steele were both missing against West Bromwich Albion, so it’s likely that Samba will become second-choice between the sticks.
