Nottingham Forest midfielder Samba Sow has been deemed not fit enough to face Millwall in Friday night’s crunch Championship clash.

The 30-year-old has been absent for the last three games after he had a setback with his knee injury, with head coach Sabri Lamouchi ruling him out to face the Lions at the City Ground.

Tiago Silva joined him on the sidelines after undergoing surgery for appendicitis and is also expected to be out “for a few weeks“, according to the boss.

He told reporters that Sow is expected to feature against Sheffield Wednesday as the season’s climax draws closer.

“Sow will be out for Millwall, unfortunately,” Lamouchi said (quoted by the Nottingham Post). “But probably with a good surprise for the next one – although the next one is very soon.

Will Samba Sow be a big miss against Millwall?

No

“If he will be with us in Sheffield, he will have missed just four games. We just have to keep going and find the right solution – what else can we do? We have to be patient. He will be with us again very soon, I think.”

This will be a huge blow for Lamouchi and the Forest faithful. Not only is he a pivotal part of the team with 18 appearances to his name, but he is someone that the supporters hold in high regard.

Ryan Yates started the last two matches in his place. Despite scoring against Middlesbrough, the Reds were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw in what was an abject performance.

With John Bostock impressing in recent weeks, both are expected to fit in. One can’t help that Sow will be a huge loss to the team at such an important time of the season.
