Despite Nottingham Forest suffering a 2-1 home defeat to West Bromwich Albion, midfielder Alfa Semedo came away with some credit from supporters for his performance. The Reds new-boy showed promise in pre-season and impresses in Forest’s opening Championship clash.
Thought Semedo and Adomah looked quality yesterday, and Silva looked decent. Some positives to take at least #nffc

So much was wrong yesterday that it is easier to say what was good: Semedo looked promising. #nffc

Sabri Lamouchi’s side took the lead on Saturday evening after through Matty Cash in the eighth minute, before being pegged back by Kyle Edwards seven minutes later and Matty Phillips before the half-hour mark. Forest were unable to find an equaliser and began the new season with a loss.
Semedo, however, was a bright spark. The 21-year-old played 87 minutes, made 53 touches, won three aerial duels, completed 77% of his 30 passes, had three shots, boasted 100% cross accuracy, created two crosses, completed four successful dribbles, made five tackles, one interception and one clearance.
He was withdrawn for Brennan Johnson to make his first-team debut and was one of the Forest players who could be proud of their showing at the City Ground. The Reds’ defeat to West Brom sees them sitting 14th in the Championship. Lamouchi’s men next face Leeds United in the league on August 10 and will lock horns with Fleetwood Town in the EFL Cup on August 13.
