Opinion: Sabri Lamouchi was right to offload 27-year-old Nottingham Forest man

|

Alexander Milosevic left Nottingham Forest by mutual consent on Monday, ending a nine-month stay at the City Ground, but Sabri Lamouchi’s decision wasn’t without controversy.

The 27-year-old was a popular player last season and impressed at centre-back, but he fell down the pecking order and didn’t play a single minute of football in 2019/20.

Milosevic found himself behind Michael Dawson, Joe Worrall, Tobias Figueiredo and Chema Rodriguez under Lamouchi, and has spent most of the campaign out of the matchday squad.

The Swedish international made 12 appearances in all competitions for Forest, the last of which came against Bolton Wanderers on May 5, 2019. Milosevic has been an unused substitute twice in the EFL Cup this season, but he had too many players standing in his way.

Chema has made three league appearances while Figueiredo has featured twice. Lamouchi hasn’t considered Milosevic in the Championship and instead allowed him to leave Forest early so he can find himself a new club and not waste the season on the periphery.

Milosevic will be seeking his fifth club in less than two years, having played for Besiktas, C Rizespor (loan), AIK and Forest.
