Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for Sam McCallum and Coventry City manager Mark Robins has revealed it will take a “monumental bid” to sign him. The 19-year-old has attracted interest from the likes of Aston Villa, West Bromwich Albion, Leeds United and Huddersfield Town, but he won’t come cheap.

Robins told Coventry Live: “He’s a really good player. But if anyone wants to take him it’s going to cost a hell of a lot of money. There’s no interest or appetite to sell and I wouldn’t think it would be beneficial for him to go anywhere at this stage.

“He’s not at the stage where he’s going to be a regular every week but the possibility is that he will be. You know what I think of him and what we think about him here, and for us to let him go it would take a monumental bid from anyone. And I think if anyone is going to take him it’s going to have to be a top Premier League team.”

As per WhoScored, McCallum has made five League One appearances for Coventry this season. He can operate at left-back & right-back and is highly rated. City want to capitalise on his potential and get the maximum from any sale, so Forest might not have the resources to meet their demands.

The Reds arguably don’t need another left-back either. Lamouchi has Jack Robinson and Yuri Ribeiro to choose from in defence, so McCallum may be short on opportunities if he chose Forest.

The East Midlands outfit boast a watertight backline too. Forest have conceded just eight goals in nine games while only four clubs have a better defensive record in the Championship. Lamouchi’s men next face Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday evening and could go top of the table with a win.
