Opinion: Are Nottingham Forest planning for life without Joe Lolley with interest in 22-year-old?

|

Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for Randell Williams and may have to battle Cardiff City, Queens Park Rangers and Huddersfield Town for the 22-year-old’s signature. Williams is a left-footed right-winger with an eye for goal and high levels of creativity, so would his arrival mean Joe Lolley is on his way out?

As per WhoScored, Wiilliams has made 11 League Two appearances this season, making six assists. The Englishman has made 17 chances, 15 successful dribbles (45%), has whipped in 63 crosses with 21% accuracy and averages 20.3 passes-per-game. He’s impressed in League Two, but making the step up to the Championship is another challenge.

Forest may not even be in the second tier of English football for long either. Sabri Lamouchi’s men are third in the division and one point adrift of leaders West Bromwich Albion after nine games, having won four and drawn one of their last five. They’re spoilt for choice on the wing too – Lolley, Sammy Ameobi, Albert Adomah, Matty Cash, Joao Carvalho.

Lolley has made 10 appearances for Forest this season, scoring and creating two goals. He was heavily linked with a move to Aston Villa over the summer and could have interest from other suitors when he hits some form, but is Williams any type of a replacement? Or just an unsubstantiated rumour?
