Matty Cash was named in the EFL Team of the Week after impressing for Nottingham Forest against Stoke City on Friday. The 22-year-old has been outstanding at right-back under Sabri Lamouchi and was recognised by the Football League for a top performance in the week.
Forest supporters were delighted with the news and took to social media to shower Cash in praise. Losing Tendayi Darikwa and Carl Jenkinson could have been a disaster for the Reds, but Cash has looked a natural in defence and has arguably been one of Forest’s best players in 2019/20.
A young player improving under a good manager. Well done 👍

The Englishman has made 11 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring and creating three goals. He’s only missed one game in the Championship for Forest – 1-1 draw with Preston North End (August 31) – and featured in every EFL Cup outing too.
Cash, who can operate at right-back, right-midfield and central midfield, has created six chances, boasts a 56% dribble success rate, has completed 36% of his 28 crosses and has won 63% of his 19 aerial duels. Defensively, he’s blocked 16 shots/passes/crosses, made 26 clearances and has averaged a tackle (9) or interception (7) every 38 minutes.
Forest next face Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday evening and Cash is expected to start.
