According to Miguel Delaney of the Independent, Arvin Appiah is ‘generating serious interest’ from the Bundesliga and could be on the move if he feels his prospects of first-team football are better elsewhere.

The 18-year-old is highly-rated but has been short of playing time at the City Ground and could be tempted by clubs overseas if Martin O’Neill can’t promise him many minutes.

Delaney believes there will be more players from England making the move to Germany after Jadon Sancho (Manchester City to Borussia Dortmund) and Reiss Nelson (Arsenal to Hoffenheim on loan) paved the way for youngsters.

Appiah is one of 14 players reportedly being targeted by German clubs – Reece Oxford (West Ham United), O’Riley (Fulham), Xavier Amaechi (Arsenal), Curtis Jones (Liverpool), Mason Greenwood (Manchester United), Tyreece John-Jules (Arsenal), Arthur Okonkwo (Arsenal) and Luca Ashby-Hammond (Fulham).

The England u18 international has made just two appearances in all competitions for the Reds and finds himself behind the likes of Joe Lolley, Matty Cash and Gil Dias in the pecking order.

Appiah has been in the matchday squad in four Championship games since December, but he’s amassed only one minute of playing time.
