Opinion: Defender has uncertain future at Nottingham Forest after latest snub

|

Alexander Milosevic has spent the season on the periphery at Nottingham Forest after falling down the pecking order, but his latest snub by Sabri Lamouchi may have made up his mind to leave at the next available opportunity.

The 27-year-old was named in the matchday squad in Tuesday’s EFL Cup third-round clash with Arsenal, but Tobias Figueiredo and Chema Rodriguez were given the nod at centre-back over Milosevic who was an unused substitute.

The Swedish international has made 12 appearance since joining Forest from AIK in January, but his last appearance came against Bolton Wanderers on May 5. Milosevic finds himself behind Figueiredo, Chema, Michael Dawson, Joe Worrall and Jack Robinson, so it’s unlikely that he’ll get many minutes this season.

With Forest enjoying such a bright start to the campaign – sitting in the Championship playoffs and having the third-best defensive record – Lamouchi won’t be making changes to his centre-backs unless there’s an injury. Dawson has been partnering Worrall in defence while Figueiredo has been on the bench.

Milosevic has been left out of the matchday squad in every league game so far, and with Forest now out of the EFL Cup, it’s hard to see how the Swede will get a game. He may have to seek a move away in January.
