John Bostock was missing from the Nottingham Forest matchday squad for Tuesday’s EFL Cup clash with Arsenal and Sabri Lamouchi has revealed why. The 27-year-old and Alfa Semedo picked up a surprise injuries ahead of the game and were unable to feature.

Lamouchi told Nottinghamshire Live: “I hope they are not too serious. I was surprised to have these two injured. We will check how they are today. Of course we don’t have a lot of choice, but as I have always said, we don’t have problems – we will find solutions.”

Bostock has struggled for playing time this season and would have been in line to feature against Arsenal – the midfielder started in the EFL Cup first round against Fleetwood Town (August 13) and second round against Derby County. He’s made just one Championship appearance since his move from Toulouse.

The 27-year-old has found himself behind Samba Sow, Ben Watson and Alfa Semedo in the pecking order under Lamouchi – his only league outing came against Charlton Athletic (August 21). Bostock has been left out of the matchday squad on four occasions but was on the bench in Forest’s last two league games.

Tiago Silva partnered Brennan Johnson in midfielder against Arsenal as Forest lost 5-0 on the night – their first defeat since the opening day of the season. They next face Stoke City on Friday, September 27, but whether Bostock will be back in action remains to be seen.
