Some Nottingham Forest fans were salivating over a video that was released by the club on Saturday showcasing a famous moment in our history.
Dexter Blackstock’s injury-time volley against Bristol City in 2009 was a huge win for us that lifted us away from the relegation places, which secured a 3-2 win at the City Ground.
This was a game that was one of the only positive moments of Billy Davies’ treacherous time in the Forest hot seat before he was dismissed after failing to secure promotion.
The visitors took the lead through Ivan Sproule early on before Robert Earnshaw’s equaliser from close range. Dele Adebola headed the Robins back in front.
Was Dexter Blackstock a success for Nottingham Forest?
Yes
No
Jamie McAllister was sent off for Bristol, and soon after Joe Garner levelled the scores before Dexter Blackstock’s stunning strike to win it late on, which the club’s official Twitter account showcased on Saturday.
Unsurprisingly, supporters were delighted to see this famous goal and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that this goal was “etched into his memory”, while another described the celebrations as “unbelievable”.
One of the best celebrations I’ve been involved in. Peterborough away will always be in the top 3. This one up there too

I was there that day, the place erupted when he scored. One of my favourite moments and goals, just for the importance of it! Was unreal!

This game is so important in the clubs history! Very under valued over time! We could have shrunk to obscurity had it not been for this comeback and the 0-0 with 10 men at Bramall Lane on the Monday. #nffc
