Official: Nottm Forest forward ‘recovers’ ahead of Blackburn clash and ‘could’ make the squad

Nottingham Forest have confirmed that Rafa Mir ‘could’ return ahead of Tuesday night’s meeting with Blackburn Rovers as he ‘recovers’ from a leg injury.

The 22-year-old had been out of action for all of September, missing four games in all competitions for Forest, but he’s returned to training on Saturday and could be on the bench against Rovers.

Sabri Lamouchi will be grateful to have another striker at his disposal, as Sammy Ameobi was the only cover for Grabban while Mir was injured. Albert Adomah had to lead the line in the Reds’ EFL Cup defeat to Arsenal too.

Lewis Grabban is expected start up front on Tuesday, having contributed five goals in eight appearances this season, but he needs to be managed carefully and not put at risk of injury.

The 31-year-old could be playing three games in a week – Stoke City (September 27), Blackburn (October 1), Brentford (October 5) – so it will be vital that Forest have an available striker to allow Grabban a rest.

Ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Blackburn, Forest are third in the Championship with 18 points from nine games, having won four and drawn one of their last five. The Reds will be favourites to beat Blackburn and Mir could play a part.
