Official: Nottingham Forest forward ‘not yet fit’ to face Stoke City

|

Nottingham Forest have confirmed in their latest injury update that Rafa Mir is ‘not yet fit’ to face Stoke City on Friday evening. The 22-year-old has been out of action since late-August, missing Forest’s last three games in all competitions, and may not return until next week.

Sabri Lamouchi has Lewis Grabban available to start in attack against Stoke while Sammy Ameobi provides backup on the bench. Albert Adomah operated in a makeshift role up front in Tuesday’s EFL Cup defeat to Arsenal, but he may be in line to start out wide.

The Reds wanted to sign another striker over the summer after offloading Karim Ansarifard, Hillal Soudani, Jason Cummings, Tyler Walker (loan), Apostolos Vellios and Daryl Murphy, but they failed to add to the squad other than Mir. His injury has left Lamouchi short on natural attacking options, but Forest haven’t suffered on the pitch.

Eight games into the season, the East Midlands outfit are currently sixth in the Championship with 15 points and are unbeaten in their last seven. They travel to face a Stoke side who are 23rd in the table and without a win all season.
