Jake Taylor joined Port Vale on a short-term loan deal on August 30 and has been continuing his development with regular competitive football – something he wasn’t getting at Nottingham Forest. The English midfielder has been in the matchday squad in three games and has so far made two appearances under John Askey.

Taylor’s first League Two outing came against Cambridge United (August 31). He came off the bench in the 67th minute as the Valiants won 1-0 at Vale Park. The midfielder made his full debut in the EFL Trophy against Shrewsbury Town on September 3. Taylor played for 64 minutes before being replaced by Mark Cullen as Vale enjoyed a 2-1 win.

The Forest loanee was then left on the bench in Vale’s 1-0 defeat to Newport County in League Two four days later, however. As per WhoScored, Taylor has racked up 23 minutes of league football, has made nine passes (66.7% completed), one clearance, blocked one pass, been dribbled past on one occasion and has made three unsupported touches.

Askey’s men currently sit 14th in League Two with nine points from seven games this season. Vale are coming off the back of two wins from their last three league games and next face Plymouth Argyle on September 14.
