Toby Edser re-joined Woking on a short-term loan until January 1, 2020 and has been a regular at the Kingfield Stadium. The 20-year-old had been left out of the Nottingham Forest first-team and embarked upon another temporary move away to get competitive playing time. Edser has so far featured in every National League game this season and is doing wonders for his own development.

The attacking-midfielder has made seven league appearances, scoring and creating two goals. Just a day after signing, Edser made his second debut in Woking’s 2-1 win at Chesterfield (August 13), amassing 83 minutes of playing time before being replaced by Godfrey Poku. His second outing came against Flyde (August 17) and resulted in a 4-1 away win. Edser played for 86 minutes and made an assist.

He started in Woking’s 2-0 win at home to Solihull Moors (August 24), scored the winner in their 2-1 victory at Dover Athletic (August 26) and was handed 82 minutes a 3-2 win over Barrow five days later. Woking have drawn their last two games – against Torquay United (September 3) and Hartlepool United (September 7) – and Edser started in both.

Woking are now top of the National League with 23 points from 10 games, having won six and drawn two of their last eight. Edser is playing his part in their success, having yet to be on the losing side since making his loan move, so his decision to return to Kingfield appears to be going well.

He’s beloved by supporters for an impressive first stint in 2018 and has so far been repeating the feat this season.
