I don’t think it’s quite gone to plan just yet.
Having spent the majority of the early part of the season on the injury table, Ryan Yates finally got his chance to get back into the first team in late October. Since then things haven’t been smooth sailing for him, as he received a red card against Bristol City and hasn’t really been able to cement his place in the starting eleven, only starting five games since he returned from suspension.
And with there being so much competition in central midfield for a spot, barring a catalogue of injuries for the rest of his counterparts, it doesn’t look as if there’s going to be much of a chance in him getting a regular place in the near future.
As a result of this, @CityGroundHQ asked the question on Twitter whether or not it would have been better to have sent him out on loan during the January transfer window, and it certainly sparked a debate amongst the Reds faithful, as they couldn’t come to an agreement on the matter.
No he’s one of our own. Good squad player
Gets a lot of of stick but cannot fault his commitment— Demuss nffc musson (@DemussDarren) February 4, 2020
Yep. He needs a fresh start #nffc

I always back our players but I just feel he needs to do a bit more. Felt the same before Worrall went out on loan and he’s come back a reformed player. I think a loan would do him the world of good.

Yep. He needs a year playing in a tough league.

No. Sow has missed lots of games with injury, Semedo doesn’t look up to it and Bostock is miles off the scene (plus a different type of player). No idea why it’s being debated after Saturday anyway, Yates played well #nffc

Yates needs to be with the squad and show him what is expected that way he will learn from Watson and sow

He is 100% where he should be
He has only played 29 games for us, last season was his breakthrough season, this year is a transition season & being one of #NFFC‘s better players last weekend shows he’s perfectly on course
He’s where he should be & being used as he should be— Nottz TV (@NottzTV) February 4, 2020
Not good enough. Shoul be on loan in league 2

Should Ryan Yates be considered for the starting eleven next season?
Yes
No
What do you think about Yates? Would you have sent him away, or kept him as part of the crew?
