Manager reveals 27-year-old has ‘not been approached’ by Nottingham Forest

|

Stuart McCall says Funso Ojo has “not been approached” by Nottingham Forest or any other club, despite rumours that the Scunthorpe United midfielder was a target for numerous sides in the January transfer window.

Vital Forest talked up the prospect of a swap deal occurring for Ojo that could see Ryan Yates move in the opposite direction, but the United manager has denied receiving any bids and isn’t expecting to hear from clubs in the remaining days of the January transfer window.

As per Nottinghamshire Live, he told BBC Radio Humberside: “I don’t know where it’s come from. (Scunthorpe have) not been approached by anyone or would expect it”. Ojo is a regular for the League One outfit, having made 23 appearances this season, scoring just one goal.

The 27-year-old clearly isn’t for sale, nor does he appear to be forcing a move away from Glanford Park, so Forest may be unsuccessful in their attempts to sign him in January. Scunthorpe are currently 16th in the table with 34 points from 29 games and are coming off the back of four wins and a draw from five.

United aren’t pulling up trees in League One but McCall doesn’t seem worried about the prospect of losing an important player. Time is running out for a deal to be completed and Scunthorpe may reject any genuine enquiries they receive, as they’d have little time to identify a replacement.
