Lamouchi is right, let’s get the City Ground packed. This Saturday and beyond – Opinion

I’m not usually one for these ‘rallying cry’ kind of posts.

There’s no real need for them at the start of the season, they’re best saved for the business end when the team is pushing to either stay up, go up or grab one of those playoff spots.

However, you can thank Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi for giving me the inspiration for this.

Lamouchi made an excellent point after the League Cup victory against Derby when it came to the atmosphere at the City Ground.

“Saturday will be a difficult game against a very tough Preston team. My only hope is that the City Ground will be full once again, with another amazing atmosphere because these fans can give the players a positive energy and can help them to achieve great things on the pitch.”

And he is exactly right, even though we are still early in the season, it is never too early to get behind the boys. As I’ve said before, I think there is every chance for this season to be a special one, but as Lamouchi says, if the fans give the players some positive energy then that just gives the players a greater chance to get a result and every point in this league matters.

I don’t want to see the City Ground packed out for just the big games against the likes of Derby County, Leeds United and any other team near the top of the table, we need to be packing out the City Ground for every single game this season.

Look at what Leeds did on Wednesday, they sold 30,000 tickets for a midweek cup tie, because they have something special growing between the fans, the manager and the team. We should be doing that for the Reds this season, but don’t wait until it’s the end of the season to get the place packed, let’s start doing it now. At least then nobody will be able to claim that we’re just glory hunters.

COME ON YOU REDS!!!
