Lamouchi emphasises the importance of home advantage ahead of Barnsley clash – Report

|

There’s no place like home.

That seems to be the message that Sabri Lamouchi is instilling in his players as he continues to assert his authority on all matters at the City Ground.

Speaking at his press conference yesterday ahead of this weekend’s game against Barnsley, Lamouchi said:

“If we want to do well in this league, we need to take the maximum points at home. For the moment, we are playing very well away but at home we must do much better than what we have been doing until now. We need to put our rhythm, to play in our way and to take the game in the way we want. We need to be physically and mentally ready and to put our personality on the game.”

He then went on to talk about how Barnsley are tough opposition and that despite their position in the league, they have the potential to cause some disruption this season:

“It won’t be easy. I don’t want to say it is a ‘trap’ game because they have quality and they don’t have a lot of points, but in the last game they deserved to score having created a lot of chances against Leeds so we need to be careful.”

And that’s the point I want to touch on. We have seen how Forest can play against teams that are doing well in the table, however if we are to have any success this season, we need to make sure that we keep that level of consistency going. We don’t ever want to be in a position where we play down to our opposition and sink to their level.

I said in the summer that there is a very good team to be coaxed out of this squad and there is a real chance that we can make a push for promotion. However, to do that we can’t simply be content with taking points off the teams near the top, we need to be ruthless and carry that on same level of play against the teams near the bottom of the table as well.

What about you? Do you think that Forest have the potential to do something this season? Or do you think that games like this could trip Forest up along the way?
