We’ve known for some time that this was going to happen.
I just don’t think we quite expected it to be in the circumstances in which they did.
The club confirmed yesterday that striker Daryl Murphy had left the club following the termination of his contract, only for him to rock up at Bolton Wanderers a few hours later. Murphy became part of what was a rather bonkers day at the University Of Bolton Stadium as they signed nine players on deadline day.
In 60 appearances he managed to find the net 13 times and chipped in with 3 assists along the way, which isn’t bad all things considered. He was never going to be able to recreate the form he had from his Ipswich Town days when he was a lot younger, so to get that much out of him considering his age is a pretty reasonable return on the investment.
And that’s why for the most part Nottingham Forest fans weren’t going to get too angry or upset over the whole move, in fact they all seemed to wish him good luck in his future endeavours. Let’s face it, given the situation Bolton are in, they’re going to need all the luck they can get.
Good luck Daryl, unfairly criticised by some and scored some important goals for us

Scored some important goals, was never gonna recreate his Ipswich form which is what some were expecting for some reason, good luck Murph.

Done a pretty solid job for us overall, especially in his first season. Best of luck to him.

Glad he’s gone, but no hard feelings. He just wasn’t the answer for us given his age. Best of luck, Daryl.

Always gave good service I thought. We made a mistake with the length of his contract but that isn't his fault.
Wish him well. #nffc

Honest pro, plenty of valued contributions to Forest in his time. Hope he can enjoy his remaining years as a player.

Loved having him at Forest. Scored some mega important goals for us. Definitely under-appreciated. Hope he smashes it at Bolton. Cheers Murph ????????
